“Can I use the energy from your solar panels while you are on holiday?”
Like so many good ideas, powerpeers answers a simple question: how can households share their self-generated electricity?
Founder Lars Falch: “With the current tech surely it must be possible to share the electricity from your solar panels and to see with whom you are sharing? And maybe even to sell as well as to share?"
On the powerpeers platform all of this is possible: small-scale producers and consumers form a network. Powerpeers shows in near real time how much electricity has been delivered and consumed, from or with who. And if there is more demand than supply, powerpeers ensures the shortfall comes from another sustainable source. That too is immediately visible at powerpeers.
Lars Falch and Michiel Ooms are the founders of powerpeers. The platform launched in June 2016 in the Netherlands to electricity consumers and small-scale (chiefly household) producers. Together with the whole powerpeers community, we are continuously improving our platform. In addition, and in cooperation with our customers, we work towards better regulation to enable even wider uptake of small-scale sustainable electricity generation. Power to the people!
